Meet DANIEL

Principal, Real Estate Broker

The second-generation of the Ginnel Real Estate family, Dan Ginnel was born and bred to be a leader in Northern Westchester real estate. Under the advisement of his father Frank Brown Ginnel, who started Ginnel in 1951, Dan started purchasing investment properties at 16, obtained his sales associate license at 18, and he joined Ginnel Real Estate with a broker’s license in hand at age 21. In 1990, Dan became President of Ginnel Real Estate. Now, as Principal, Dan works closely with the Ginnel agents, including his son Ben, to provide training and development, particularly focused on negotiations, the essence of the business.

In his 48 years at Ginnel Real Estate, Dan grew the business into the sales leader in Northern Westchester, with several of the highest-producing agents in the market, many who have Dan’s mentorship to thank. Dan has been involved in the sale of over 2 billion dollars in Northern Westchester real estate. His instincts to maintain Ginnel’s independence, eschewing the branch model of real estate to instead focus on supporting a highly talented group of industry leaders with tremendous knowledge of this particular market, has proven to be very successful. The number of marquee properties Ginnel has handled in the area (some multiple times) is a testament to his approach, and leadership.

Dan’s outlook on real estate is long-term. He has advised many clients on land and tax planning as a way to maximize their property values. He strongly believes that property owners should seek counsel on maintaining their property values well in advance of when they plan to sell, as many value-adding suggestions can take years to fully implement.

Personally, Dan is active in the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester; and a financial benefactor and member of the Advisory Board of the Westchester Land Trust. He believes preserving open space through land donations and easements adds to the quality of life in Northern Westchester, not to mention its property values. Dan lives with his wife Kate in Katonah, N.Y., close to his three grown children and eight grandchildren.
